Changan-Qiyuan-A07-Electric-Sedan-Unveiled-3
Changan Automobile has unveiled the Qiyuan A07 electric sedan that will compete against the BYD Han & Seal, XPeng P7, and Tesla Model 3. Qiyuan is a new electric brand under Changan Automobile. At Changan’s global partner conference in January this year, Changan announced that it will launch a new mainstream electric series called the OX series, which is now called Qiyuan. The Qiyuan A07 gets a sedan-coupe design. The front fascia gets a through-type light strip and the brand logo. The side features flush door handles and frameless doors. The rear end gets slim full-width connected tail lamps, an embedded ducktail spoiler, and a rear bumper with a simple diffuser element.
In terms of dimensions, the Changan Qiyuan A07 measures 4,905/1,910/1,480mm with a generous 2,900mm wheelbase. In comparison, the wheelbase of the Tesla Model 3 is only 2875mm. According to China’s MIIT, the Qiyuan A07 will also come equipped with radars, 360° cameras, and massage seats.
The Qiyuan A07 will be offered in both hybrid and pure electric models. The pure electric version will have a 160 kW or 190 kW electric motor and will be powered by CATL’s ternary lithium batteries. The hybrid version will have a 1.5L four-cylinder engine producing 70kW, a 160kW drive motor, and a CATL-supplied 28.9kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a pure electric cruising range of 170km.
The Qiyuan A07 is expected to go on sale in the Chinese car market towards the third quarter of this year.
